Environmental protection Award to nickel enterprise

The Nickel Engineering and Projects enterprise (CEPRONIQUEL) of Cuba earned the National Environmental Protection Award issued annually by the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment (CITMA).

The enterprise forms part of the CUBANIQUEL group of the Ministry of the Basic Industry (MINBAS). The prize was received by director general Iosmanis Santana, from the CITMA Deputy Minister Jose Diaz Duque.

Diaz Duque explained during the ceremony that the National Environmental Protection Award was created in the year 2000 to promote better productive and environmental work, as well as compliance with Cubas existing laws and technical standards, as a basic element to achieve better results.

The award also encourages fulfillment of the economic and social objectives of the entity, while contributing to improve the public image of the center and the products and services offered.

CEPRONIQUEL fully complied with the technological requirements and the good practices established for its production process and associated services. It was found to maintain adequate working conditions and assures its workers have the health and safety protection measures at each work station.

The CITMA certification is extended for a period of three years.

Among the other enterprises that have also achieved this important award in Holguin province is the Brisas Hotel of Guardalavaca Beach, which belongs to the Ministry of Tourism.
