The seven candidates to National Parliament and the 22 aspirants to the Provincial Assembly of the Peoples Power in the central Cuban municipality of Sancti Spiritus have already held several meetings with the people in this territory.

They visited "Camilo Cienfuegos" provincial hospital where they talked to workers and patients in the recently opened ophthalmology unit annexed to the hospital building, where about 60 people have been operated in just three days.

Dr. Orlando Lopez de Castro, director of the health institution told the visitors that the new ophthalmology unit -in which over 3 million pesos were invested- will also provide surgical treatments for the correction of eye defects like myopia, hypermetropia and astigmatism, among others.

The nominees also visited the local maternity hospital, a health institution which will be transferred to a new building within the "Camilo Cienfuegos" hospital area. Later on, they went to the Provincial School of the Party and then to the local polytechnic school of computing sciences.

These meetings will continue during December, so that the candidates can meet and exchange opinions with people from all neighbourhoods and communities before the next January 20 elections.
