A group of scientists working at the Experimental Station of Pasture and Fodder in this province presented a brochure on how to control marabu growing, which affects more than 51 percent of the agricultural area in this province.

Entitled "Sugerencia para la Batalla" (Suggestions for the control), the printed edition will be launched by the Cuban Association of Animal Production, which explains how to handle the "plague" and also the botanical features of the horned plant, and how it was introduced to the Island.

The new edition, which is being printed now, seeks that farmers and cattlemen in Cuba analyze and apply all the advices as soon as possible.

Modesto Ponce, one of the three authors, explained that there are chemical, biological, quarentary, economical and physical ways for fighting against it.

Something convenient is to apply them taking into consideration its gradual growing, he pointed out. So Ponce also added that the best is to exploit immediately all the agricultural free areas, including pastures and fodders.

Specialists as Madelín Cruz and Diego Muñoz also took part in the research that lasted many years.
