Cuban President Raul Castro met on Wednesday afternoon with his Uruguayan counterpart, Tabare Vazquez Rosas, who arrived on Tuesday evening in Cuba for an official visit.

After the welcoming ceremony at the Palace of the Revolution in Havana, both leaders analyzed bilateral relations between Cuba and Uruguay, which they described as excellent.
They also discussed the need to find ways to increase bilateral trade and to promote cooperation and the exchange of experiences between the two countries.
Raul and Tabare also spoke of topics of regional and international interest, particularly about the complex situation of the world economy and its impact on our nations as well as possible solutions.
Tabare Vazquez was accompanied by Foreign Minister Gonzalo Fernandez; the Minister of Agriculture, Stockbreeding and Fishing, Ernesto Agazzi; the Minister of Social Development, Marina Arismendi; Economy and Finance Minister Danilo Astori; Health Minister Maria Julia Muñoz; and the Uruguayan Ambassador in Havana, Jorge Mazzarovich.
