Chilean President Michelle Bachelet met with a visiting Cuban delegation headed by Havana Historian Eusebio Leal, attending the celebrations for the centenary of the late Chilean president, Salvador Allende, in Santiago de Chile.

During a meeting with cultural and political officials and Allende's relatives at La Moneda Palace, Bachelet greeted the Cuban delegation and recalled her visit to the Caribbean nation in 2002.
Prensa Latina reports that the Chilean leader praised Leal's outstanding restoration work in Old Havana, while Leal reported on current projects underway in Old Havana, explaining their social importance.
The City of Havana's official historian, who was accompanied by the Cuban Ambassador to Chile, Giraldo Mazola, spoke with Salvador Allende relatives and reiterated his admiration for the former Chilean President.
The Cuban delegation will attend the Allende tribute events, which include a rally at a monument dedicated to the late president in downtown Santiago de Chile and the opening of an arts exhibition at the Cultural Centre in La Moneda Palace.
