Cuba Heads Regional Congress Confederation (COCAL).

Cuba took over the presidency of the Latin American Confederation of Congress Organizing Agencies (COCAL), which is made up of institutions in charge of preparing events.

The COCAL President is Isabel Puebla, who is also the commercial director of the Havana-based Empresa Palacio de Convenciones.

During her two-year term, Puebla plans to improve Latin America's and the Caribbean's rankings in the congress sector.

Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Cuba are among the top countries where most congress and conferences are held in the region.

Statistics from the International Congress and Conventions Association (ICCA) show that Cuba ranks eighth in the world and Havana ranks fourth in that sector.

Cuba belongs to the COCAL through such agencies as the Bureau of Conventions, Palacio de Convenciones, Havanatur, Cubatur and Cubanacán, among others.
