As part of the celebrations for the 10th anniversary of Astana, the Cuban dancers Joel Carreño and Yolanda Correa were invited, among many other famous figures of the international ballet, to take part in the Cultural Ceremony held at the Peace Palace of the new Kazakhstan capital city.
The energy and skills of the young Cuban dancers impressed the Kazakh public with their own particular style, who transmitted their admiration with long applauses and cheers after a brilliant artistic demonstration, representative of the level and international prestige of the Cuban National Ballet.
The Cuban Ambassador offered an interview to the national TV channel Era TV, in which she expressed her satisfaction of the possibility Cuba had of being present in such an important event, offering its art, as a symbol of friendship between the people of Cuba and Kazakhstan.
The occasion highlighted the significance of the Cuban National Ballet, as an expression of virtuosity and artistic quality, as well as the inspiring and guiding role of Alicia Alonso, as prima ballerina assoluta and Director of an institution that soon will celebrate its 60 anniversary and that is, nowadays an obliged reference of the Cuban culture.
