A Cuban delegation of parliamentarians is participating in the sessions of three commissions of the Latin American Parliament (Parlatino) that begin today in Panama.

According to Prensa Latina news agency, the group includes Osvaldo Martinez, Jose Luis Toledo and Jorge Gonzalez, presidents of the commissions of Economic Affairs, Judicial and Constitutional Affairs and Health Affairs of the Cuban Parliament, respectively.
Also present in the sessions of Parlatino is Nidia Diana Martinez, president of the Parlatino Health Commission, who explained that this working group will discuss important topics for the region such as the situation of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in the 22 member countries as well as other diseases such as tuberculosis, leprosy, dengue and malaria.
She added that participants will also analyze the results of programs implemented in the region by the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA).
The government of Panama and Parlatino, founded in 1964, signed an agreement last year for the establishment of the regional venue of this organization in that Central American country.
