The artistic group Maraguan, from the University of Camaguey, which is an insignia of the Movement of amateur artists of Cuba, ended their performances at the International festival of traditional and folk dances, held from the 18 of June until the 10 of July in several Dutch cities.
The performances of the young students were valued as real exhibitions of the Cuban culture.
At the same time, members of the Organising Committees of the Great Traditional Dance Festival of Brunssum and of the cities of Warffum and Raalte as well as the local authorities, coincided in stand out the professionalism, discipline and artistic quality of the Maraguan Group that received a standing ovation at the end of each presentation.
Local Dutch press and TV also highlighted the high interpretation level of the Cuban group, made by young university students, as well as the friendship and solidarity atmosphere its members transmitted, both during the presentations and at the exchanges with other participating groups, the organisers of the folk festivals and the inhabitants of the host cities.
Jorge Luis Alfonso Ramos, the Charge d´affairs of the Cuban embassy in Holland, accompanied the members of the Maraguan Artistic group during their stay in Brunssum, a moment in which he could see the admiration environment towards the young Cubans, their music and dance.
The Maraguan Artistic Group of the University of Camaguey, will continue its summer tour through European cities and will take part in other international Folk Festivals, in which they will present a varied repertoire that rescues traditions and roots of the Cuban popular culture.
