Hondurans Studying in Cuba Ready to Fight Dengue in their Country

Honduran students who were studying in Cuba are now back in their country, devoting their vacation to working on a project called Dengue Prevention and Eradication, which began on     August 11 and will run until the 16th.

During a meeting held in Tegucigalpa attended by Honduran Health Minister Dr. Elsa Palou and Cuban ambassador to that country, Juan Carlos Hernández, the students expressed their interest in struggling against dengue, one of the most pressing problems faced today by the health system of this Central American nation.

With the support of the Honduran Health Ministry, and under the supervision of a Cuban medical brigade, more than 450 youngsters from the country’s different departments have organized themselves to show their interest in helping isolated communities fight the disease, reports the Cuban Foreign Ministry’s website.

The students demonstrated their commitment to repeat this initiative in future vacation periods, while the Honduran minister promised to evaluate the results of this first experience.
