Cuban Ballet Dancers Viengsay Valdes and Romel Frometa Receive Ovation in Japan

Valdes and Frometa performed at the Sunport Theater in the city of Takamatsu and at the Gotanda Youport Hall in Tokyo where they closed the first act and also the gala.

Viengsay Valdes and Romel Frometa, prima ballerina and lead dancer of the Cuban National Ballet, received standing ovations from a demanding Japanese audience during their performances in galas held as part of the Japan 2008 International Ballet Festival.

The Cuban dancers shared the stage with world-renowned dancers such as Russian Daniil Simkin and French Dorothee Gilbert and Alessio Carbone, among others.

The Cuban ambassador in Tokyo, Jose Fernandez de Cossio, highlighted the significance of these performances in the development of cultural relations between Cuba and Japan.

The gala was organized by the Japanese Hisaka Ballet Studio.
