Prospects are deemed bright for broadening Cuba-Vietnam oil cooperation, in the wake of a meeting of high ranking officials of the sector from both countries.

The gathering, held at MINBAS (Basic Industry Ministry) headquarters on Wednesday, included the signing of a Collaboration Agreement, establishing new cooperation actions in the fields of oil, electricity, chemistry, mining and metallurgy.
Cuban Minister of Basic Industry Yadira Garcia and Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Commerce, Vu Huy Hoang, signed the document and agreed on the importance of these contacts and of the agreement to strengthen links between both countries.
Both nations are said to increase oil cooperation, with state-run PetroVietnam firm expected to step up inland and off-shore prospecting.
The Cuban official said that the next few years will witness a more intense oil activity in Cuban Exclusive Economic Zone in the Gulf of Mexico, in which the Vietnamese experience, and PetroVietnam´s reliability and professionalism, will be invaluable for the Island.
