Sierra Leone`s FM Meets with Cuban Counterpart

Cuban FM Felipe Perez Roque said `this is a special moment to further develop relations with Sierra Leone` in a meeting with the head of the diplomatic ministry of the African country, Zainab Hawa Bangura, who is on an official visit in Havana.

"We hope your visit allows us to discuss the current state of our relations and the bilateral cooperation efforts," said Perez Roque who referred to the development of programs in education and medical assistance between the two countries.

During the meeting held at the Foreign Ministry's building, and attended by other Cuban government officials, the Cuban minister said the visit of Hawa Bangura will serve to start preparations for the coming visit of Sierra Leonean President Ernest Bai Koroma.

Hawa Bangura relayed a message of greetings to the Cuban people on behalf of President Koroma, whom she said is looking forward to traveling to Cuba. The minister also appreciated the work of doctors from the island in collaboration with her country, and expressed her sorrow for the devastation caused by hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
