An examining board of specialists from the José Martí Pedagogical Institute, in eastern Camagüey province, described the thesis prepared by Vives as excellent and he defended it with absolute mastery.
The thesis is aimed at improving the methodological training of teachers who teach math to blind children, a scheme already applied in eight Cuban provinces.
The new system is a challenge for special education teachers in the country, who train students with special educational needs to integrate them into society, said Vives, who was diagnosed at age 19 with an hereditary disease that caused his blindness.
