The heavy rains forced the Haitian authorities to declare a red alert in four departments in Haiti. The report included five deaths in Artibonite, in the north, another three in the Central Plateau region, and two in the south, one of them a boy.

The rains have provoked floods in different regions, affecting homes and agriculture, with the effect of the damage not yet having been evaluated.

The National Weather Report Center warned of the continuation of strong rains, because of a complex system of depressions generating a lot of clouds.

Meteorologists exhorted the Haitian population be alert and increase prevention measures.
