The Canadian tourist entered Cuban territory through the Antonio Maceo International Airport in Santiago, and as soon as the symptoms were detected the woman was transferred to the Juan Bruno Zayas provincial hospital for study and treatment, where she is still hospitalized and progressing favorably, the note reads.
The patient has been guaranteed appropriate treatment and studies towards the virus-related diagnosis. She has been administered the medication known as Oseltamivir, while the rest of those travelling with the woman are under epidemiological surveillance, the note explains.
The Ministry of Health also alerts the Cuban population about taking all personal and collective hygienic measures to avoid infection and the need to look for medical assistance in case of perceiving any persistent respiratory symptoms.
