Villa Clara Celebracion
The central province of Villa Clara has been chosen to host the main activity to mark the 57th anniversary of the attack on the Moncada Garrison on July 26, 1953.

The date commemorates the 1953 assault on the Moncada and Cespedes garrisons in Santiago de Cuba and Bayamo, which, although unsuccessful, sparked the Cuban Revolution that would end Fulgencio Batista’s dictatorship five and a half years later.

According to Granma newspaper, the work of the provinces of Ciego de Avila, Havana and Granma was also recognized.

The efforts and achievements in several fields, particularly amidst the limitations resulting from Washington’s blockade against the island and the current international financial and economic crisis, earned Villa Clara the much deserved recognition.
