By: Estela McCollin. Havana, Sep 20 (Prensa Latina) Orthopedics, physiotherapists and rehab specialists from 20 countries have confirmed their attendance to the 22nd Congress of the specialty opening Wednesday.

Mexican Orthopedists to Bilateral Havana Meet Cuban Scientists and President of the Organizing Committee, Rodrigo Alvarez Cambras, will head a workshop on the Ralca External Fixators, and explain the latest techniques on bone tumor treatment.

Some 500 guests, including a large Mexican delegation, will attend the event. Also attending are experts from Argentina, Uruguay and Puerto Rico. Delegates will also come from Spain, France, Germany and Italy.

The list of topics on the program includes minimum invasive surgery, total shoulder and elbow arthroplasty and their latest techniques, plus treatment of the pelvic ring fractures and their complications, and child hip surgical protocols.

A trade show with the latest instruments and novel surgical techniques complete the academic program.

Orthopedics 2011, to run from Wednesday through Saturday in Havana's Frank Pais International Scientific Orthopedics Complex, is co-sponsored by the International Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology and the Cuban Society of the specialty.
