Has announced the opening of the exhibition and Belgian Dutch painting of the nineteenth century to the 10th of May at the Universal Art building of the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana

The sample reflects 24 pieces, eight Belgian Dutch and the rest belonging to the collection of Cuban institution, to be exhibited for the first time, said at a news conference curator Oscar Antunes.

The portrait, genre scenes and landscapes, are the themes of the exhibition, he added.

Referring to the Belgian authors of the pieces, said Alfred Stevens, one of the greatest exponents of realism, and Joseph Barthélemy Vieillevoye, director of the Academy of Fine Arts in Liege.

That list includes, among others, the painters Edmond du Schampheler, and Henri Cleenewerck, who worked in Cuba in the sixth decade of the nineteenth century.

In the Dutch section present works by renowned artists such as Joseph Israel, one of the most recognizable figures in the historiography named the School of The Hague.

In listing other authors in that European country, whose pieces revolve around aesthetics realistic Pillen named Maris, Mari Henri Ten Kate, Johannes Jacoubus Paling, Johan Barthold Jongkind and Anton Maule.

The curator explained that although the Museum are appreciated representative works of painting done in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries in Flanders, and the seventeenth in Holland, the reference to the nineteenth century has not been shown before.

In this regard said that even though it is possible to highlight all significant events of the century, the paintings on display are a set that testifies, from the collection of cultural institutions, historic moments of the culture of both countries.
