Cuba flight returns after maintenance issue

A flight from Grand Cayman to Havana, Cuba returned to the Owen Roberts International Airport after the pilot spotted a maintenance issue midair.
The Cayman Airways Boeing 737-300 took off from Owen Roberts Airport Wednesday at 1:36 p.m., but shortly into its journey the crew on VP-CKY became aware of a problem. As a precaution, the pilots decided to return to Grand Cayman and emergency crews were placed on standby.
Roads near the airport were blocked off as a precaution. The aircraft landed without incident around 2:40 p.m.
Following the aircraft’s landing, specialists were on hand to resolve any issues. According to the Cayman Islands Airports Authority, passengers were put on a different plane and should arrive in Havana, Cuba this afternoon.
