A fire of "medium proportions" in the historic center of Santiago de Cuba, was controlled and extinguished on Wednesday. The fire broke out in a building of the intersection of Enramadas and Calvario streets, occupied by a dressmaking workshop.

Forces and means of the fire department and the system of the Ministry of Interior controlled the situation quickly without allowing time for further damage.

"No harm in people and now the significance and causes of it is evaluated," said Lt. Col. Alexis Rodriguez, head of the Fire Department of Santiago de Cuba.
