The union between same-sex couples is a reality in several countries. However in Cuba has not been achieved and it seems that will not happen soon. Homosexuals from the island protests by all legal means to make their marriages submitted.

For more than a decade that the National Center for Sex Education (CENESEX), through the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) and the Commission for Assistance to Youth, Children and Equal Rights of Women of the National Assembly , promoted a draft law amending the Family Code.

As discussed CENESEX people linked to the new law include the legal union between same sex. The truth is that no one has ever read the body of this document. In addition, little has been said in the official Cuban media on the subject.

On May 12, 2014, a few days after finishing in Varadero Regional Conference of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association for Latin America and the Caribbean (ILGALAC), a Round Table was addressed televised the rights issue of the LGBTIQ community.

On that occasion he was asked directly to the head of the Legal Services of CENESEX, Manuel Vázquez Seijido on the legal status of this Bill. The lawyer, in his reply, gave no information.

Nor Mariela Castro, director of CENESEX, has given information about the project status.
