American theater group ECAS, presented the play "National Sport" last Saturday in Matanzas, by Cuban Jesus del Castillo.
Castillo, a prestigious writer, television producer and author of plays like "Pipepa" - 1998 Casa de las Americas Prize said that "National Sport" allows us to understand the Cuban history and roots since the work was inspired by baseball, main pastime of the island.
The work presented in Matanzas won in the genre of theater in the Ocean State Poetry Contest last 2013 and was first performed under the direction of Francis Parra in the US that year.
The theater group, composed of actors and actresses of Latin origin and settled in Providence, Rhode Island, also toured the historic center of the city, and met with officials of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba at its headquarters.
