US President Barack Obama is considering a "wide range" of options to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay (Cuba), one of his presidential promises yet to be fulfilled and priority for his final two years in office, according to statements made today by Josh Earnest, spokesman for the White House.
"The president and his team are always given a lot of options," Earnest said, referring to the closure of the prison, designed to internalize those accused of terrorism in the naval base that US has in Cuba.
However, as stated, for President Obama the best way to close the controversial prison would be that Congress approve a plan to transfer the prisoners to third countries, so that was diminishing the number of inmates in the prison.
