The iconic band Buena Vista Social Club performed Thursday at a reception hosted by President Barack Obama, which became the first Cuban band to perform at the White House for over 50 years.
The Cuban band was in charge of livening up the White House reception on the occasion of Hispanic Heritage Month, held each year between September 15 and October 15 in order to pay tribute and recognize the contributions of Hispanics to the culture of the United States.
For the 400 attendees at the East Room of the White House, including Jose Cabanas, Cuba's ambassador to the US capital, the emblematic band played four of its greatest hits, "Chan Chan", "Veinte años", "El Cuarto de Tula" and "Quizás, quizás, quizás."
