On an official visit to the island for the first time, Gerald Watt, president of the Chamber of Deputies of Antigua and Barbuda was received by Politburo member Esteban Lazo, president of the National Assembly of the People’s Power, to whom he expressed his willingness to strengthen bilateral bonds and ratified the strong bonds of friendship and solidarity existing between his country and Cuba.
He described diplomatic relations between Cuba and Antigua and Barbuda as excellent and highlighted the help received from Cuban voluntary workers in the areas of health and education.
Lazo thanked Antigua and Barbuda for its support in the struggle against the unfair economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the island by the United States for over half a century now.
