Yesterday afternoon, General of the Army Raúl Castro Ruz, second secretary of the Communist Party, received Doctor Ali Reza Tahmasbi, minister of industry and mines of the sister Islamic republic of Iran.

Raúl receives Iranian minister of industry and minesThe meeting produced a profound and friendly exchange of opinions on the progress of bilateral relations - described as excellent - as well as comprising a review of the results of two days of intensive work in the context of the Cuban-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission, at which Minister Tahmasbi headed the Iranian delegation and where both sides confirmed the existing potential for promoting economic and cooperative relations.The Iranian minister was accompanied by Parliamentary Deputy Seyyed Moitaba Hashemi, and Mostafa Alai, designated ambassador to Cuba.

Present on the Cuban side were Carlos Lage Dávila, secretary of the Executive Committee of the Council of Ministers; Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, government minister; and William Carbó Ricardo, acting director for North Africa and the Middle East at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Source Granma International
