Cuban divers finish second in Grand Prix in Rostock

Cuba finished second at the Diving Grand Prix, the last of the 2007 season, held in Rostock, Germany, last Sunday.
World runner-up in 2005 Cuban diver Jose Antonio Guerra could not confirm his leadership in platform diving, but he stood out throughout the competition with progressively increased points from 463.60 in preliminaries, 480.15 in semifinals to 522.75 in the final.
"I have to improve my performance during the few weeks I have left before the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro," said the Cuban diver who was only beaten by Chinese Yue Lin (550,10) and Linxin Zou (543,10), leader of the world rankings.
The pair Erick Fornaris-Jorge Betancourt also obtained bronze medals in synchronized board diving, only surpassed by the Chinese Chong He-Feng Wang (452,82) and the Russians Dmitry Sautin-Yury Kunakov

China finished first in the Grand Prix with 8 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal. Cuba finished second with 1 silver and 2 bronze medals followed by Canada, Germany, Russia, Australia and Mexico.
