Lawmakers from both the Republican party and the Democratic party are working on a new policy to expand trade with Cuba.
The new policy would allow America to export agricultural products to Cuba and it would end travel restrictions. Chairman of the food and resources economics at the University of Florida,Thomas Spreen says there are many American supporters of this proposal. Agricultural Economist at the University of Florida, Bill Messina says we are currently under a trade agreement with Cuba but it has alot of restrictions.
The new bill would also remove the prepayment requirements. Messina says this bill will also help Cuba's tourism. Messina says currently two million people visit Cuba a year from other parts of the world. He says it is expected that two million Americans will be making the same journey if the bill is passed.
