The documentary "Memoria de la fiebre", dedicated to Carilda Oliver Labra, 1997 National Literature Prizewinner, premiered in Matanzas, Cuba on Thursday with the presence of poet and film director Manuel Jorge.
The 27-minute film covers part of the work of this celebrity on narrative in Latin America, and her ties to this city, 62 miles east of Havana.
We wanted to premiere the documentary in this city, since "Carilda is Matanzas and Matanzas is Carilda," the filmmaker and writer told Prensa Latina.
She is a transcendental figure, because her poetry never dies. I put seven poems written by her to music.
The film will be presented on Friday at the emblematic Sauto Theater in Matanzas, as part of the gala to honor the outstanding writer on the eve of her 85th birthday.
