The event showed colourful parades, floats, much music and dancing in the streets staged by congas and comparsas that traditionally sweep behind crowds of people that participate fully in the celebration.
The Best Choreography Award went to comparsa "Chano Pozo" that swept with the Grand Prix and the Frist Prize, while "Nieves Fresneda" won in the Best Choreography category.
Regarding traditional comparsas "La Jardinera" received the First Prize, "Pello el Afrokán" the Best Troupe and "Pancho Quinto" the Best Quinto Drum.
The Second Prize went to Componedores de Batea but the Third one was left void .
Under the Best Cotemporaneous Comparsa Los Guaracheros de Regla topped the awardee list followed by La Giraldilla and Jóvenes del Este.
A deserved Mentioned was granted to the National Art School, the ballets of the Cuban TV and the Teatro América, as well as the Tropicana float.
Sunday brought the closing Carnival celebration that typically included the big float drives, lots of musicians playing on stages, congas and comparsas in the streets.
