Cuba boasts of the best world average of teachers per inhabitant (one per each 36), said the island's Minister of Education, Luis Ignacio Gomez in this capital.
In statements to Bohemia magazine, the Cuban minister also explained that his country has undertaken several educational programs, which involve a large number of teachers.
"We are also the only country which has implemented a double-session system to teach students over 200 days a year," said Gomez.
He noted that Cuba has incorporated the subject of information sciences into the program in elementary schools where the practice of sports and the teaching of arts is also promoted.
The Cuban official pointed out that Cuba has one general teacher per 15 high school students and one general teacher per classroom at the technical colleges.
Gomez said that the increase of teachers has progressively contributed to the improvement and the customisation of teaching at all levels.
