The organizers expect the attendance of Cecilio Aviles, outstanding Cuban illustrator, who will give a conference on this kind of genre, while the participants will also debate on the importance literary competitions. They will also carry out readings of books in several schools of this town, at 637 kilometers to the east of Havana.
The workshop, convoked in Las Tunas to the whole country by the National Association of Cuban Writers and Artists, and the provincial Center of the Book and the Literature, concludes with the price-giving ceremony.
The competition counts on a collection of books published by Sanlope Publishing House of this city, which has allowed the creation of a wide catalog that includes titles such as El jardin de los laberintos (The Garden of the Labyrinths) by Luis Mariano Estrada, Acertijos (Riddles) by Idis Parra Batista, Martinete (Hammer) by Lesbia de la Fe, Empezar desde cero (Beginning from Zero) by Freddy Laffita, and Celulin by Marta Rosa Fernandez.
The workshop and the literary competition have been a success for the Center of the Book in Las Tunas, because they have increased the literary production dedicated to the children, an age group that lacks literature.
