In the easterly province of Camaguey alone, there are nearly 900 candidates so far, of whom 257 are women and 177 young people - numbers greater than in the 2005 election, said electoral commission president Belkis Serrano Tejerizo when speaking to ACN.
According to Serrano, a total of 3,300 assemblies are expected to be held in Camaguey with the participation of approximately 580,000 voters.
Under the slogan "Nominate the Most Qualified and Capable Candidates", Cubans are getting ready for the next stage of the nominating process, scheduled for October.
