Surgeons from several Caribbean nations gathered in Havana to attend the First Congress of the Surgery Section of the Caribbean Medical Association (CMA) taking place at the Hotel Nacional.
Professor Dr. Eugenio Selman Housein, AMECA's president said this is the first time a section within the association has held a congress.
The congress included lectures on several related topics, debates and round table discussions. Most medical presentations were made by experts from Venezuela, Mexico, Panama and Cuba, while working sessions will be presided over by Dr. Selman Housein; and also by Dr. Rigoberto Otano, CMA's vice-president; and Antonio Portilles, coordinator for the Surgery Section.
CMA is a non-profit NGO seeking to help improve the health levels of Caribbean nations and brings together experts from all medical specialties.
