The island's experience in this area is vast, since the country implemented the so-called Energy Revolution in 2005. The initiative energy-saving aims to the make more efficient use of fossil fuels and switch to renewable energy sources.
Some of the measures taken in this period include the substitution of incandescent light bulbs for energy-saving ones, the modernization of the electricity distribution network and the installation of small electricity generating plants for use in cases of natural disasters or other emergencies.
The working program for 2007-2008 was signed on Friday, the last day of the meeting.
