Melissa weakens to a tropical depression
At 1100 am ast 1500z the center of tropical depression Melissa was located near latitude 16.1 north, longitude 32.6 west or about 570 miles-920 km west of the Cape Verde Islands.
The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph-20 km/hr and this motion is expected to continue during the next 24 hours.
Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 30 mph-45 km/hr with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 24 hours.
Estimated minimum central pressure is 1007 mb-29.74 inches.
The next advisory will be issued by the National Hurricane Center at 500 pm ast.
