The 77 doctors and other health workers, who arrived at the southern city of Pisco a few days after the catastrophe, work at Ernesto Che Guevara and Antonio Maceo Hospitals, and they have been taking care of more than 61,000 patients so far.
Leaders of the Cuban medical brigade reported that 41.7 percent out of that total also provided medical asistance outside the hospitals, going deep into the interior of Pisco and to the areas of Ica and Pisco.
In the Cuban Hospitals, more than 500 operations have been performed, 40 percent of which are high-risk surgeries, and more than 10,000 diagnosis, between lab tests and electrocardiograms, have also been made.
La Primera paper emphasizes that medical assistance not only goes to victims of landslides caused by the earthquake.
The Cuban internationalist cooperators say they are willing to remain in Peru as long as the authorities of this country consider it necessary.
