The film is set in 1895, during the Cuban independence war against the Spanish colonialism, and it tells the story of a love triangle between a Spanish woman called Leonor, her maid and a mambí (the name give to Cuban independence fighters).
Through the use of ¨codes that touch the borders of melodrama ¨, as Díaz Torres said to the press, this new proposal deals with ¨the topic of human relations under extreme circumstances¨; reactions that are unleashed within a difficult situation - war, in this case - which acts a ¨background to recreate the personal story of the characters¨.
The director of films like ¨Alice in wonderland¨ (1995), ¨Kleines Tropikana¨ (1997) and ¨Playing the pretender¨ (2000), said that the movie has a second part: ¨The lost Eden¨, directed by Spanish filmmaker Manuel Estudillo. Both films are independent from one another, though. This second film takes place during the 1930's of the Cuban Republic, and it is to be exhibited in November next.
The cast of ¨Road to Eden¨ includes renowned Cuban actors like Asenneh Rodríguez, Fernando Echevarría and Raúl Pomares, who will be accompanied by young actors Lieter Ledesma and Limara Meneses. The Spanish cast will have Pilar Punzano and Álvaro de Luna.
