Cuban Vice President of the Council of Ministers Otto Rivero said that the country has embarked on more than 7,000 new buildings in the social sector under the framework of what is called the Battle of Ideas.
This social initiative was started a little more than five years ago with the aim to improve the quality of life of all Cubans and promote a general and comprehensive culture.
Rivero told Prensa Latina that of the completed works, 230 are policlinics, doubling the previous number. He said that the new or renovated buildings are in the health, education, culture and sport sectors, and added that projects for 2008 are currently being analyzed.
Rivero emphasized that quality is the underlying focal point of this program, aimed at improving services and to support the development of educational and health programs underway.
