Panama Vice President opens Cuban Trade Fair

Lewis cut the ribbon with Cuban Vice President and Secretary of the Ministers Council Executive Committee Carlos Lage.
The Panamanian official toured the FIHAV Central Pavilion and other areas accompanied by Cuban Government Minister Ricardo Cabrisas and members of the Panamanian delegation.
Noting that bilateral cooperation is at an excellent political and economic level, Lewis voiced optimism about the future, especially in the fundamental area of trade.
He thanked Cuba for its generosity of several cooperation projects contributing to the Panamanian population"s literacy and to the recovery of sight with the Operation Miracle program.
Cuban Foreign Trade Cuban Minister Raul de la Nuez gave the welcome address, highlighting that the island maintains commercial relationships with more than 3,000 foreign companies of the five continents and the number continues ascending.
Cuban foreign trade - he assured - continues expanding and, as of September, commercial exchange had increased 12 percent, with export operations up 44 percent.
To America, he specified, corresponds 45 percent of the total exchange, followed by Europe, and Asia-Middle East, both with 26 percent.
De la Nuez asserted that as the Cuban economy strengthens, contractual and international financial commitments will be fulfilled, which consolidates the prestige and dependability of the island.
