Truly artisitc poems and songs were highly interpreted during the tribute paid to Ernesto "Che" Guevara in the Parisian theatre Le Grand Rex, closing the event commemorating the 40th anniversary of his assesination in Bolivia.
The Cuban trovadores Eduardo Sosa and Manuel Argudín opened the act interpreting emblematic songs by Silvio Rodríguez, Vicente Feliú and Pablo Milanés. Afterwards a constellation of French music stars took the stage, being among them Olivia Ruíz, elected this year as best interpreter with the most popular record, in a duet with the veteran Brigitte Fontaine, the young Eva García and a quite special interpretation by: Christina Ros-mini, with her French-Spanish version of "Gracias a la vida", by Violeta Parra.
In this soirée, Dr. Aleida Guevara, daughter of the Argentine-Cuban revolutionary leader took the floor and thanked everybody from the stage. Ambassadors from Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Argentina and Cuba were present.
More than 2 000 people enjoyed a parade of popular French and foreign artists living in Paris. The Grand Finale was in charge of the world reputed Chilean group Quilapayún, who sang "La muralla" ("The Wall"), with verses by the National Poet of Cuba, Nicolás Guillén, and to motivate, even more, the enthusiastic audience, "El pueblo unido, jamás será vencido" ("The people, united, shall never be defeated"), before finally sing "Hasta siempre, Comandante", Prensa Latina reports.
