During a general assembly Friday in Bilbao, the Association of Basque Businessmen in Cuba declared their willingness to strengthen ties with the Caribbean Island.

Cuban Ambassador to Spain Alberto Velazco, guest of the association, gave a general overview of present day Cuba, emphasizing the economic situation.

The businesspeople mentioned their pleasure at the awards they obtained in the recent Havana International Fair, and with the signing of new agreements with Cuban companies.

Bilbao will host the Cuba-Basque Mixed Commission in 2008.
