This is the first time I am in Havana, but I have deep roots in this Island because my father, Francisco Izquierdo, was born in Cardenas, Matanzas, about 62 miles east of this capital, said Izquierdo in exclusive remarks to Prensa Latina.
She added that her visit is to participate in a meeting on heritage management and development, organized by the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana, Eusebio Leal.
We are going to share our experiences and learn those of Cuba, which are very important for the Dominican Republic, she said.
Izquierdo noted that Dominican President Leonel Fernandez is expected to visit Cuba later this month, in what will be a bright opportunity to consolidate the excellent relations between the two countries.
During her stay in Havana, Izquierdo is expected to meet with government and institutional officials and visit places of historic, economic and cultural interest.
