Cuba and Russia will further strengthen their ties on the basis of the agreements signed between the two nations in mid 2006, during then Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov's visit to Havana.
The statement was made by Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Eumelio Caballero at the end of political consultations carried out between the two countries' foreign ministries in Moscow, Russia's capital.
Caballero headed the Cuban delegation at the talks, which are held
regularly as part of exchange on bilateral, multilateral and regional
issues.
The Russian delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Kisliak, who was accompanied by officials in charge of different geographical areas at the Russian ministry.
The two parties reviewed issues of bilateral interest and related to
the current international political situation, reports PL news agency.
Cuba is satisfied with the prospects of continuous development in the Russian Federation, which has gained ground as a world power and has contributed to solving international conflicts on the basis of
non-interference, Caballero noted.
The diplomat highlighted the importance of that process for the
developing countries, amid a situation in which the United States is
trying to impose its decisions unilaterally.
Also present at the Cuba-Russia talks were Ambassador Jorge Marti and other officials from the Cuban Embassy in Moscow.
