The Finance Committee of the Venezuelan National Assembly approved $1.4 million US in supplementary financing on Tuesday for international "social tourism."
The funding will subsidize 1,118 trips to Cuba for low-income persons as part of a bi-national cooperation accord on recreation, reports Granma newspaper.
The plan, administered by the Venezolana de Turismo tour agency, offers the different sectors of the population recreational possibilities and promotes regional integration.
As part of the agreement, Cuba puts together low-cost travel packages to different parts of the island, with a focus on cultural exchange between the two nations.
