Cuba Becomes Member of UNESCO Ocean Group

Cuba was elected in this capital as member of the group of experts from the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission at the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO).
Also included were Brazil, China, Russian Federation, Portugal, United States, Croatia, Japan, Senegal and South Africa.
The news was provided by UNESCO general assistant director and such Commission's executive secretary Patricio Bernal, who said the group of experts must give a report on their future labor.
This election means a new recognition for the island, also appointed as member of the Executive Council and member of the Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sports in the recent concluded General Conference of the Organization.
The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission was founded in 1960, and among aims is to foster marine scientific researches and oceanic services through arranged action by members, and provide a better knowledge of nature and resources,
Cuba's National Aquarium director Guillermo Garcia is a member of the Executive Council of such group.
