Cuban Vice President Esteban Lazo and President of the Ethiopian Parliament Tesome Toga
Cuban Vice President Esteban Lazo along with the President of the Ethiopian Parliament Tesome Toga unveiled in the Ethiopian capital the Monument Park dedicated to Cuban internationalists who died in that African nation.
Addis Abeba's major Berhame Deresa and the Defense Minister Kuma Demeksa and Toga spoke at the solemn ceremony.
Lazo delivered the closing speech of the event in which he appreciated this gesture on behalf of the families of the 163 Cubans who died in those lands, the thousand of collaborators, soldiers, and civilians who gave their generous contribution to the development of Ethiopia.
The Cuban Vice President passed on the gratitude of the government and especially of President Fidel Castro and First Vice President Raul Castro, and the whole people of the island for this beautiful gift that will be a symbol of friendship between the two peoples.
Lazo and the Parliament's main leader laid wreaths to the photos of the Cuban martyrs and planted trees as a sign of friendship and took the official photograph.
The chief of the Cuban delegation was received by Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi who also tackled issues of bilateral interest while a scientific event was taking place in the afternoon on Ethiopia-Cuba Friendship Relations.
