Authorities in the Cuban capital plan to enlarge the city's hotel infrastructure to welcome more foreign tourists, the Havana delegate of the Ministry of Tourism, Ramon Zamora, said on Sunday.
Zamora noted in a communiqué that Havana has original attractions and receives 50 percent of more than two million foreign tourists who visit the country every year.
He added that in 2007, 1.03 million foreign vacationers from Spain, Mexico, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Canada and Germany, the main sources of travelers to Havana, spent their vacations in the Cuban capital.
Zamora pointed out that a program to remodel the city's hotel infrastructure, which began in 2007, is currently underway.
