Cuban Efforts to Protect Ozone Layer Recognized

Diaz noted that, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of this
international agreement, Cuba - and particularly its Ozone Technical
Office - received the recognition for its constant efforts in the
reduction of substances that deplete the ozone layer.
During a meeting with reporters on Monday, executives from CITMA
commented on the impact of science on economy and society as it is reflected in the results obtained in sectors like biolotechnology,
energy, agriculture and fishing.
Diaz added that pollution has been reduced in the mountainous regions of the island while woods continue to grow with almost 25% of the country's surface covered by forests.
